There are going to be several Winterhawk players who will need to take the lessons of this loss and build from it. It is never easy to kick a team when they are down but this was a game not really won by the Ice but handed to them. It was the only time Portland led and one of the very few highlights for the Winterhawks. Untitled by bawkbawk. Knotty Girls met last week at the Attic Window Quilt Shop. Amongst all the craziness and business that the holiday season can bring, it’s such a beautiful thing to stop for a few moments, laugh with, cry with, and hug those you love.

That’s what it’s really all about, right?. Yep, I’m wearing my favorite t-shirt again! To work and after work… sorry for the slight repeat Sometimes I just can’t help it when something calls my name! After work look:. I finally have a closet again!!! Between moving and then having my closet collapse on me, I have been a wreck. My clothes have been in piles on our bedroom floor, making for numerous "nothing to wear" mornings, so I am very thankful to have my clothes in their rightful place! Thank goodness I have a handy boyfriend! When my closet collapsed on me, I got to thinking: "Do I have too many clothes?" I was sure that couldn't be, but I was somewhat curious about how many pairs of shoes I had collected, etc. Well, I counted, and let's just say I am in triple digits. I am sure I will always find a place for them. By Jeremiah Bourgeois I was watching the movie “Shawshank Redemption” the other night and was struck by what the old black convict, Red, said to Andy Dufrane, the innocent man convicted of murdering his wife. “Hope," he declared, “has no place for a man on the inside. Hope can drive a man insane. But as I thought about his words, I envisioned all of the men that I know who have lost hope. I know men who have coped with confinement by turning their backs on the world outside, yet have slowly died inside as the years have gone by. Hopelessness has transformed all of these men in ways that they could never have foreseen, and would have never imagined. Andy Dufrane was right. From an interesting longread at TheVerge: To the casual observer, the beach may look like the only natural bit of the city, a fringe of shore reaching out from under the glass and pastel skyline. But this would be false: the beach is every bit as artificial as the towers and turquoise pools. For years the sea has been eating away at the shore, and the city has spent millions of dollars pumping up sand from the seafloor to replace it, only to have it wash away again. Every handful of sand on Miami Beach was placed there by someone. That sand is washing away ever faster. The sea around Miami is rising a third of an inch a year, and it’s accelerating. Part One by Bill SalusRelatively recently a small circle of individuals have injected into the Christian Church a paradigm shift in Antichrist thinking. They advocate that this beastly individual has Assyrian origins. Oddly the book of Daniel, which seemingly issues the most pivotal prophecy regarding the origin of this personage, does not once mention the Hebrew word Ashur, or Ashshur, which is translated as Assyria, or Assyrian. This is striking in that among all the prophetic books within the Bible, perhaps excepting the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel alludes to this individual as much, if not more than, all the others. Perhaps one might think that Daniel was given information about the Antichrist, but not necessarily about his ancestral roots. Therein we are informed that the Antichrist will originate from the people who would eventually destroy the city of Jerusalem, and the sanctuary, referring to the second Jewish temple. I'm enjoying the posts over on the Wovember Blog. The recent one about the Diamond Fibres Mill in Kent, England brought me back to the days when I actually worked in a spinning mill. We used to buy mohair and wool top and spin it into yarn. I was very lucky to travel to the different carders, sorters, and various stages of wool production on different trips. Reading and looking at the photos of this little mill brought back the smells of the wool production. Really nice job guys.

Needing something different for my trip to Chicago, as a lover of history I decided to buy used copies of the first couple of Philip Kerr books and I brought them along for the ride. Having now read two of them, I was happy to realize that these historical murder mysteries were just what the doctor ordered. I went through the first two volumes of the Berlin Noir trilogy in no time, and I'm looking forward to discovering where the author will take his stories and characters next! Here's the blurb:Hailed by Salman Rushdie as a “brilliantly innovative thriller-writer,” Philip Kerr is the creator of taut, gripping, noir-tinged mysteries that are nothing short of spellbinding. Hard-hitting, fast-paced, and richly detailed, The Pale Criminal is noir writing at its blackest and best. As was the case with the first installment, it's that historical backdrop that gives the book its unique flavor. Though on occasions he is forced to rely on info-dumps to convey lots of elements, the author once again did a fantastic job recreating that particular period. It sets the mood and captures the political and social tension perfectly. Whew! What an exciting week we had. Last week our family celebrated Easter. It was filled with family, friends, bunnies, and boiled eggs. The festivities started with me taking the kiddos to playgroup to be with friends. We had such a fun time. " And nothing.
