Tweet A raft foundation consists of a raft of reinforced concrete under the whole of a building. This type of foundation is described as a raft in the sense that the concrete raft is cast on the surface of the ground which supports it, as water does a raft, and the foundation is not fixed by foundations carried down into the subsoil. The reinforced concrete raft is designed to transmit the whole load of the building from the raft to the ground where the small spread loads will cause little if any appreciable settlement. The flat slab raft is of uniform thickness under the whole of the building and reinforced to spread the loads from the walls uniformly over the under surface to the ground. The concrete raft is reinforced top and bottom against both upward and downward bending. A waterproof membrane is laid, on the dry concrete blinding, against moisture rising into the raft. Good morning! As some of you may know I have been working with Perfect Paper Crafting for awhile now. I have been intrigued by these markers for sometime now and was pretty excited to get a set to try out. They are MUCH different than coloring with other markers. There is a barrel that has a solution in it that lightens the pen color. Basically what you are doing is tip to tip blending. They definitely take some getting used to and some practice. There are some great tutorials out there to help you along. Good morning!! It's been a quiet week around here but I have had lots going on. I took a quick trip to Savannah for a long weekend. Particularly painful has been the President Obama's mischaracterization of the Brothers to the Rescue shootdown and the release of the spy who planned terrorist acts in the United States and was serving a life sentence for the murder of Americans.

This presents Cubans inside and outside of the island with an opportunity to explore and exercise nonviolent discipline in the present debate at a higher level.

That would not make the world a better place, it would only make it worse. On the contrary, it means that we must do more for our own freedom, and that of others. Think about this for a moment. My doctor said she would call the next day if there were any abnormality, so when I didn't hear from her, I figured all was well. The hospital where my doctor works has an online records system so that you can see your lab results, medications, appointments, allergies, etc. I received a notice today that there was a new lab result in the system. So I checked. Not only did I fail the one-hour test, but I failed by what I think is a lot. I was immediately worried, and also really disappointed that I hadn't heard from my physician's office. Norway has hatched ambitious plans to install the world’s first floating underwater tunnels to help travelers easily cross the nation’s many fjords.

At present, the only way to travel across the bodies of water involves taking a series of ferries – an inconvenient and time-consuming process.

I've had a great response to the Lamb Meat-Up happening at Webs tomorrow evening in the parking lot. Still time to order. Check out this post here for prices and what is available. The lamb meat is frozen and packed in cryovac so it travels well. There are some things we subversively discuss here which are very irritating, but still others which are so obscene that it makes me weep for the future those younger than us will be forced to live in. It's taken me a while to properly catch up on Lenore Skenazy's recent articles, but this kind of perverted attitude really grips my shit, so it's worth reproducing it in full. I was accused of abusing a child when I rescued him from drowning. I swam down and rescued the kid and swam him back to the beach. As soon as I got the child to the beach he was crying and coughing up water, his mother ran down screaming to leave her boy alone. She was screaming at me so loudly that people were crowding around to see what had happened.

At this time the life guards turned up and I advised them what happened as I could not talk any sense to the mother.

The life guards took the boy and mother to the life guard hut and I went back to my towel on the beach. Unfortunately, the current structure of the CCHD has allowed it to assist in the financial crisis the US currently faces, as well as, possible voter fraud in this election on a scale that would make Boss Tweed jealous. Those in good standing are those that are pro-life, pro-family, pro-true marriage. The flock is getting ready to lamb any day now. The mother's all have tight, round bags under their tails and are pawing at the ground before laying down away from each other. I have a feeling lambing will be a chaotic three days here, but not last much longer. It seems everyone is on the same schedule, biologically speaking.

I like watching the flock this late breeding season.

They are all stuck in one paddock, the ground all eaten down to moss with petals of apple blossoms all over like falling snow. This cute little owl has captured many a hearts inside all these bird cages.

I just printed out the salutation for the top since I wnated to make it up.

Throughout the school year we have been doing lots of writing. During Literacy Center time, students rotated through activities each day, and some writing activities have included Write the Room, handwriting booklets, and lots of sight word practice. During our Writing block, there has been lots of free choice with respect to what and how students choose to do their writing.

Here are some samples of what our writing time has looked like at various points throughout the school year.

Students have their own Word Wall Books. These little booklets are filled with the words we have learned in class, as well as the names of our classmates. The book is perfect for students to keep at their fingertips so that they can refer to it wherever they choose to do their writing in the classroom. I have enjoyed seeing other people's quilty bucket lists, so I thought I would join the fun. Very soon, Julia and I will start working on a New York Beauty quilt. I love these blocks. I grew up in New York State and I have a thing for the Chrysler Building.

When our LQS started selling NYB BOMs a few months ago, I knew we had to have them.

Tomorrow is the big gun auction, and I have to work. Oh well, there wasn't much I was interested in this time around. And I get to make a little extra cash. Besides the gun auction, it's double gun show weekend. A couple weekends a year, two gun shows, one in my county, the other, one county over, land on the same weekend. It will be a nice one day weekend anyway. Surprisingly, as close together as they are, there are enough vendors and people that they are both rather full gun shows. Not like when the two Evansville ones line up and half set up at one and the rest set up at the other one.
