A Nation of Sheep, by William J.

This is a very interesting study of the failures of America foreign policy in the early Cold war years and how the average American was clueless as to what foolishness was being done in their name. Its a pretty interesting read and is unusual in that it does offer solutions on how to educate the Americans of that time. When I was growing up in Canada, one of my favorite playthings was my Meccano set—a wondrous collection of metal strips, plates, wheels, gears, and other parts that could be assembled into all sorts of mechanical contraptions. Over the years, ingenious mechanics have assembled available parts into cars, trucks, cranes, construction equipment, and much more. Theoretical physicist Gerard 't Hooft of the University of Utrecht also has fond memories of playing with a Meccano set as a child. He has recently turned this long-ago interest into an intriguing and entertaining mathematical pursuit. As described in a paper available at his Web page, 't Hooft focuses only on the metal strips, each one having a certain number of holes a fixed, integral distance apart. You can fasten these strips together in various ways using nuts and bolts.

Investigations of the failures of major US financial corporations during the global financial meltdown continue to paint a picture of bad leadership. As described by the Los Angeles Times, Before Washington Mutual collapsed in the largest bank failure in U. S. history, its executives knowingly created a 'mortgage time bomb' by making subprime loans they knew were likely to go bad and then packaging them into risky securities, a congressional investigation has found. TWEETING - FOR BETTER CASE ANALYSIS By Professor Wes Porter Professor Porter teaches evidence and advocacy courses and directs the Litigation Center at Golden Gate University School of Law Teaching case analysis is always a challenge. The skill of case analysis is critical for our courses and mock trial teams - and for a career in litigation. While jury addresses, witness examinations, and motions in limine involve case analysis, we miss something when this skill is not isolated from other parts of trial presentation. We sought to better segregate the skill of case analysis and diagnose related issues independently. Modeling, More Case Files, and Less Review Time Probably like many of the readers of this blog, we model case analysis early in the instruction.

Yet, we must isolate, assess, and provide feedback to our advocates about case analysis.

We assign several new case files in every advocacy course, aside from the file assigned for their final trials, to promote case analysis skills. ABC Chiropractic Center is a full-service chiropractic practice, located in Lakewood, NJ.

I love the blend of black and khaki – maybe it seems boring to some, but I like it.

It feels reminiscent of Jackie-O to me. I was also very happy to wear this skirt today as I finally got it tailored to fit me better. This view in Zion Natl. It's also attached to this blog post. Thanks!. Observation: God made some pretty incredible promises to the people of Israel, but they were all dependent on them obeying His laws and following His ways. If they disobeyed Him, they would experience His curses. Application: When we walk in obedience to the Lord God Almighty, we can rest assured that He want to prosper us in every way. When we walk in disobedience, we can expect to see things go wrong for us in every area as well. God did this as a covenant. He made promises for obedience that were incredible and punishments for disobedience. We need to walk in obedience to the Lord, then we can have the assurance that He will prosper the work of our hands.

Prayer: Father, You promised blessing and prosperity for those who follow and obey You.

Observation: All through Scripture, God speaks about humbling ourselves before Him. We are told that God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. We are told that God hates a proud look. Jesus is speaking to a group of religious people who were trying to get the best seats at a banquet. Application: God loves and gives grace to the humble.

I HAVE READ A BOOK written by an eminent ichthyologist that states categorically that flying fish do not flap their wings.

I have read the same thing in Wikipedia. Both sources maintain that the flying fish use their special pectoral fins only to glide, not for propulsion. Well, I have news for them. Flying fish DO flap their “wings.

I was ideally positioned to observe this phenomenon — a few feet above water in the cockpit of a small yacht — on a day when white caps were flashing as far as the eye could see.

In between them, the flying fishes flew, sometimes singly, sometimes in large shoals so that the whole surface of the sea seemed to be moving off. The “experts” say these little guys wiggle their tail fins to get up speed and then simply glide with their wings outstretched. They do that, certainly, but they also flap their wings. They look and sound like giant insects when they’re airborne. Play Hero Tower Defense! Unfortunately there's no update this week because we are still working out some things that would have made for a less than stellar update. Things like game crashing bugs and whatnot so we'll be holding off till next week. You can expect this on occasion with HTD because while we shoot for weekly updates sometimes we have to skip a week here or there in order to spend a little more time to fix stuff. So then, let's talk about classes. If you recall in an earlier post way back when I had mentioned the classes but I don't recall going into significant detail about them. So allow my to explain what out current plan is. He may be the nicest guy in the world, but I probably wouldn't hire him.

Unfortunately, he'd be a distraction to his co-workers.

Not sure what message he is trying to get across. Yup. You read that title right. You can win, A YEAR OF PIES. The catch is you need to supply the flour, fruit, and stove. English and me, we're supplying the recipes. I first met Ashley English online. Over the years we have emailed, sent packages, and stayed in touch. I consider her a kindred spirit and friend. Her little one has a hand-knit Maude wool hat and if that doesn't make the English family special to me I don't know what does!So when she asked if I wanted to offer a pie recipe for her new book, A Year of Pies, I was more than happy to do it. I shared a recipe for a quiche I made after raising my first pig. Izithakazelo zakwa-Mayisela Mhayise, Jibhela, Mbonane, Gasolo!. by Phil Johnsonualities like diversity, ambiguity, mystery, and novelty—especially when blended with qualms about expressing our own certainty—will sound like positive virtues to almost anyone steeped in postmodern entertainments and mass media. But from a biblical perspective, those things are not inherently virtuous at all.

In fact, they are all fraught with serious and significant dangers, especially when applied with lavish abandon to biblical theology and hermeneutics.

Sober, careful consideration of the biblical exhortations for Christians to guard sound doctrine would soon peel the mask of "virtue" off the postmodernist value system.

Specifically, a better understanding of the biblical concept of humility would help correct the most glaring, fundamental flaw in the approach to Scripture and doctrine currently in vogue among post-evangelicals.

It's hard to imagine any attitude more hostile to the biblical concept of faith. In biblical terms it is anything but humble to imply that God's Word is not sufficiently clear—as if we can't possibly be sure what the Bible means, and as if we should never be so "arrogant" as to defend its truths against the enemy's relentless attempts to twist and subvert what God has said. "Chaos - where brillant dreams are born. - ancient Chinese proverb. Yet in all it’s randomness there is an order to everything. Creating these images is my exploration of that idea. " Such are the words of Eric Saak, an Oklahoma-based artist in the area of digital collage. Ten years before the recent publication of Somerset Digital Studio, Eric was already experimenting with this art medium. I came across his work on the web and was struck by the energy in all his pieces.

As I look at his collages, I see so many elements that speak to me.

The security forces continued to carry out arbitrary arrests, mass detentions, and tortured people on little to no evidence. The result was the limiting of political freedom, along with the continued lack of due process. Human Rights Watch said that Iraq needed to reform its criminal justice system. A closer look at the bloc’s announcements however, show that it continually makes contradictory statements, convoluting its message, and making it hard to determine its true goals. It appears that Sadr does not want to depose the prime minister at this time, but is rather setting the ground work to challenge his State of Law list in the next round of elections. Moqtada al-Sadr and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki have always had a difficult relationship. Sadr was initially opposed to Maliki’s return to office, calling him a liar and a schemer, and at one point came out in support of Iyad Allawi and his INM. But that's my opinion about "It's a Monster!", your opinions may vary. 'Cause like the story poignantly points out, what we think about something is all based on our own individual perspectives.
